How About Changing to an Energy-Saving Hydraulic Pump?

In this blog post we would like to introduce you to our 'Modernization Examples Series.'
We will discuss the benefits of upgrading your hydraulic pump motor to an inverter motor.

What are the Advantages of Changing Your Hydraulic Pump to an Inverter Motor?

By changing the hydraulic pump motor drives on your existing press and peripheral equipment to inverter drives, sensors can be used to monitor the pressure status of the hydraulic circuit and then to control the motor RPMs accordingly. This eliminates unnecessary motor operation and enables a significant reduction in power consumption.

We Proved This Using an AIDA LFG Series Straightener Feeder

Using an LFG Series straightener feeder, we took measurements taken over the course of one week and compared the pre-modification hydraulic oil pump with the hydraulic pump after the motor had been converted to an inverter-type motor with variable speed control.

1-Week Power Consumption Measurement Results

Before: 180.2 kWh → After: 104.5 kWh
Electrical Power Savings: Approx. 1737 yen; CO2 Emissions Reduction: Approx. 0.032 tons
(Note: Calculated using FY2021 electric rates.)

A Final Word

With the current skyrocketing cost of electricity, the savings would now be even greater.
Though there would be an initial cost for this upgrade, it would enable you to reduce the life-cycle cost and it will save you money and be environmentally friendly over the long term. Please do not hesitate to discuss this with AIDA.
